mBlox scoops two prizes at the 2010 Mobile Messaging Awards

mBlox wins with Shorthand Mobile and Arriva for Innovations in Mobile Messaging - Jun 24, 2010

London, UK - mBlox, the world's largest mobile transaction network, has won the 2010 Mobile Messaging Award for Best Messaging Infrastructure or Platform for its joint entry with Shorthand Mobile and another joint award win for Effective Use of Mobile Ticketing with Arriva. The awards were voted on by a panel of distinguished industry judges, and were announced on Tuesday 22nd June at the Global Messaging Congress Gala Awards Dinner in Westminster, London.

mBlox and Shorthand Mobile - Best Messaging Infrastructure or Platform
Shorthand Mobile's TextApps, powered by mBlox, are a completely new category of apps that deliver popular and valuable web content (such as Facebook, Google, Twitter and Naukri job search) via SMS in a rich, interactive, graphical interface to millions of mobile users worldwide without data plans. TextApps expand the capabilities of even the most basic phones and provide access to web content for the majority of mobile users on the phones they already own and using the plans they already pay for. Shorthand entrusted mBlox to power the essential short codes and provide reliable content delivery that forms the backbone of the service in North America. The award for Best Messaging Infrastructure or Platform is a testament to the delivery of innovative, easy to use messaging services with broad reach and consumer appeal.

mBlox and Arriva - Effective Use of Mobile Ticketing
Based on CDT's industry leading m-Ticketing platform and carried over mBlox's messaging network, Arriva is offering a free-to-download mobile application for customers on its fleet of buses. Once downloaded it allows people to purchase daily, weekly and four-weekly tickets via their mobile directly through the application via a registered card or by purchasing credit from any PayPoint outlet by cash/card. To ensure consumers only pay the price of the ticket and do not incur any data download charges, Arriva is also using mBlox's unique Sender-Pays Data service. This new m-Ticketing technology in the UK is believed to be the largest deployment of its kind in the world, covering approximately 1,000 routes served by Arriva's regional fleet of 4,500 buses.

"As the world's largest mobile transaction network, thousands of mobile applications and services run over our network," said Andrew Bud, Executive Chairman of mBlox. "We are extremely pleased that these companies have been recognised for the ingenuity and effectiveness of the valuable services they provide. This accomplishment is a testament to a best-of-breed approach combining the leading network services with cutting edge businesses creativity and execution. We are proud to be associated with such successful projects and look forward to working with Shorthand, Arriva and CDT in the future."
