Chief Executive Officer
Tom Cotney is recognized globally as an expert on the subject of operating and growing technology businesses. In both public and privately held companies, Tom‘s responsibilities have ranged from the turnaround of start-ups to managing teams of over 8,500 professionals delivering service from 3 continents to clients across the globe.
His experience includes the SaaS business model, consulting, IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing. His technical resume includes application development, IT infrastructure, and contact center management. Tom’s functional skill set includes the sales, human resources, finance, marketing and service delivery associated with these technical areas.
With IBM Global Services Tom had direct responsibility for the development, closure and delivery of nearly 50 different outsourcing agreements, including five of the company’s ten largest, and its first BPO engagement. At Apple in the early 1990’s, he had responsibility for the company’s enterprise sales force.
As the founder and CEO of ExperientPartners, Tom brings a strong base of general management expertise to investors and operators in small to mid-sized companies. With Experient, Tom has excelled in a number of roles including, CEO in turnarounds, consulting projects to companies up to $2 billion in size, board advisor to technology firms in their growth phase, and deal driver during exits.
From 2008 to 2011, Tom served as board member and CEO of Air2Web where he orchestrated a successful exit for its investors via a sale in 2011 to Velti PLC.. Tom also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Encover, Inc., a technology enabled outsourcing provider which was acquired in November of 2010 by Synnex, Corp. Prior to accepting the position of CEO at mBlox, he served as an advisor to Catavolt, Inc., a cloud based, B2B mobile provider with an award winning solution extending legacy enterprise applications to a wide variety of mobile devices.
Tom is a summa cum laude graduate of the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia where he is a member of the Alumni Board of Directors. He is also active in the Atlanta Community having raised over $3.5 million for the United Way and related charities. Tom and his wife Kathy reside in the US. The couple has three children.
Chief Technology Officer
As Chief Technology Officer, Jonas makes sure that mBlox chooses or develops the best technologies to provide its customers with compelling products and high quality service. He is also responsible for the strategic technical direction which keeps mBlox innovating in a fast-paced market.
With nearly 20 years of software development and management experience, Jonas brings a broad range of experience, from early stage start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. He has developed eCommerce solutions for the IBM ecosystem and worked for DaimlerChrysler developing safety critical compilers and embedded systems.
In 2000, Jonas joined Symbian, where he was responsible for the UIQ Technology software development team, growing it from a handful of engineers into a global 380 person organization delivering the UI and app platform for SonyEricsson and Motorola smartphones. Jonas joined Mashmobile in Lund, Sweden in 2008 and was part of the team mBlox acquired in 2010.
Jonas holds an M.B.A. in Leading Innovation from the Stockholm School of Economics.
Chief Financial Officer
John Stone has 25 years of experience with small startups and large, multinational, publicly traded companies in the technology, internet, media, and entertainment spaces.
Mr. Stone began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, and moved into enterprise software SaaS companies, then into the early days of consumer internet with Earthlink and global internet banking company S1. Most recently, Mr. Stone was Chief Financial Officer of privately held Accel HR, guiding their growth into a successful merger with Ultimate Software.
IJohn brings a very pragmatic approach to financial management and collaborates with the senior management team to promote growth at mBlox and provide the highest level of return to our investors.
He is a native Atlantan and a graduate of the University of Georgia JM Tull School of Accounting.
SVP & CIO, Operations and Customer Services
Ed Santulli is a seasoned Information Technology Executive with expertise in the Telecommunications and Mobile computing field. Ed excels at delivering a wide spectrum of IT services including Infrastructure Management, Transformation, Networking, Application Development and Maintenance, Call Center Management, and End User Services. Ed is very adept in setting architecture and technology direction to meet enterprise goals using innovative solutions and approaches.
While Ed’s tenure with IBM started in software development and architecture, he was most notable for managing some of IBM’s largest Telecommunications outsourced accounts within the United States, Middle East and Africa. Ed’s continued focused on his customers and their experience earned him several awards from his clients.
Ed’s highest degree held is a Masters of Science in Computer Science, with a concentration in software design, from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. Ed and his wife Tracey have enjoyed living abroad, but have now settled in Atlanta, Georgia. They have two children.
SVP, Global Product Marketing
Rob joined Mblox in 2003 when the company was undergoing rapid international expansion. Today Rob leads global marketing, product management, product marketing and messaging operations for Mblox. Over the last 9 years, Rob has held a variety of leadership positions in mBlox, from sales to engineering. Prior to joining mBlox, Rob held a variety of IT leadership positions across a number of financial companies and non-profit organizations. Rob holds a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa.
SVP, Global Sales
Bruce Bales is SVP, Global Sales at Mblox, and is responsible for the company’s global sales organization. Prior to joining Mblox, Bales founded ArdaCOM, a messaging solutions business based in Atlanta, GA. Bales formerly served as President of the messaging business at Glenayre Technologies. Under his leadership, Glenayre experienced rapid international growth and a dramatic business turnaround.
Bales' experience in the telecommunications and messaging industry spans over twenty eight years and includes technical and business leadership positions with the Octel messaging division of Lucent Technologies, AT&T's Bell Laboratories and Strategic Alliance WorkGroup, a high-tech sales and marketing firm.
Bales graduated from Kansas State University with a double major in Math and Computer Science. He has been granted 36 U.S. Patents for his innovative concepts and has spoken at numerous industry conferences and seminars.
Vice President, Global Human Resources
Mark Herold is the Vice President, Global Human Resources. In his role Mark is responsible for driving shareholder value by maximizing the potential of people. He comes to mBlox with two decades of experience, driving change, coaching employees and cultivating high-performance cultures. Mark graduated from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota with a degree in Business and Economics. He then attended the University of Minnesota- Minneapolis and earned a Master of Business Administration, concentrating in Industrial Relations.
Mark began his career supporting the human resource needs of manufacturing environments for Frito-Lay, General Mills and Avery Dennison encompassing union, non-union and headquarters environments. In his final role with Avery Dennison Mark provided HR leadership for the creation of financial shared service centers in US and Europe.
In the past 12 years, Mark has held Human Resource leadership roles in the financial services and technology industries with Amvescap Retirement, Cypress Communications and EasyLink Services International and Georgia’s Own Credit Union.
Mark and his family live in Atlanta, Georgia.
As General Counsel, Daniel is responsible for mBlox's global legal and regulatory affairs.
Daniel joined mBlox in 2011, bringing extensive technology-focused legal experience, including from positions as General Counsel of Intermedia.net, Assistant General Counsel of FXall, and Corporate Counsel of Elsevier. He started his career at the New York office Winston & Strawn LLP, where he concentrated his practice on technology transactions, mergers & acquisitions, public and private securities, and finance-related matters.
Daniel studied law at Boston College Law School and philosophy at UC Santa Barbara. He and his family live in San Francisco, California.
